Amphibious Architecture: The Tale of Tuvalu (5:49)
In the Pacific region, encroaching waves haunt islanders' dreams; particularly in Tuvalu's archipelago where rising sea levels are on the verge of swallowing two of its nine islands.
This project proposes the construction of a series of floating farms made from locally available materials, using native flora and upcycling common waste products from imported goods.
Process + Project Interview: CRITSPACE (13:55)
’Hugo's project is centered around embracing floating and amphibious architecture in Tuvalu, looking towards local and sustainable materials that will enable Pacific communities to not only craft their own future and livability, but also allow for the passing down of traditions through generational practice and maintenance of the proposed floating farms.“
